DirectX Tech Demo

By Dewald • University • 9 Sep 2012

This application explores some of the basic principles of 3D game programming using the DirectX 9 SDK. It was programmed in C++, with a basic state machine to swap between demonstrations.

It demonstrates lighting models, ranging from point, spot and directional lighting methods, it then explores different light and material properties – ambient, diffuse and specular.
Basic texturing is also shown, including mip mapping, texture filtering and addressing modes.
Lastly using stencil buffering, basic shadow and mirror effects are created.
